Corosolic acid is derived from the extract of Loquat Leaf. Experimental results show that corosolic acid stimulates glucose transport and promotes the absorption and utilization of glucose by cells, thereby achieving its hypoglycemic effect. Corosolic acid excites glucose transport similarly to insulin, which is why it is often referred to as phytoinsulin.
It is structurally similar to ursolic acid, differing only by a 2-alpha-hydroxy attachment. In the United States, it has been marketed as a nutritional supplement and has undergone clinical trials for supporting blood sugar management.
Since ancient times, natural extracts like lotus and loquat leaves have been used in traditional applications. Modern science has identified alkaloids, citric acid, and active triterpenoids like Corosolic acid as key components for health benefits, particularly in managing fat absorption and metabolic processes.
